HOW TO PREPARE YOUR HOME’S EXTERIOR FOR REALESTATE PHOTOGRAPHY

LET’S PREPARE

To sell your home you need an excellent photographer who will capture that photo of your home that will stop buyers from scrolling on to the next home. This is called the HERO SHOT. Backyards are a big deal for people when making a home purchase so make sure it looks picked up and clean.

In order for me to capture the HERO SHOT of your home, here is a list of the following things that you should do before I even show up:

  1. Move all vehicles out of the driveway and from in front of your home.

  2. Sweep or power wash your driveway, walks, porch, and patios.

  3. Remove trash cans.

  4. Turn on all outside lights. Make sure there are no burnt out lightbulbs and all of the bulbs are the same color.

  5. Make sure that your landscape looks neat and trim.

    BACKYARDS

  6. Hide hoses and yard tools.

  7. Put away children’s toys. They are bright colors which will draw your perspective buyers eye in the photograph instead of having them imagine the possibilities.

  8. PICK UP DOG POO.

HOW TO PREPARE THE INTERIOR OF YOUR HOME FOR REALESTATE PHOTOGRAPHY

You want that MODEL HOME MAGIC when selling your home. That inviting look that allows you to picture yourself living there. Check one out so you can feel that vibe.

Here are a list of things to do before I even arrive.

1.Turn on all your lights to check for burnt out bulbs and bulbs that don’t match in color.

2. Turn off all fans

3. Unplug and hide all of your cords. This keeps your rooms looking tidy and uncluttered.

KITCHEN:

Your kitchen can make or break a realestate deal so don’t be attached to “cute” decorative items like salt and pepper shakers or fruit bowls (just to name a few), I need to photograph your kitchen to show off the space, so:

1. Hide appliances: toasters, knife blocks, coffee pots, soap dispensers, fruit hangers, etc.

2. Hide your trashcan if it is free standing.

3. Hide refrigerator magnets and pictures.

4. Hide pet beds, food dishes and litter boxes.

BATHROOMS

Your bathrooms are other rooms that can make or break the sale of your home so other than a pretty candle, less is more. Here’s what you need to do there:

1. Hide all products including: soaps, cosmetics, medications, etc.

2. Hide the garbage can, toilet brush and plunger.

BEDROOMS

Bedrooms should feel inviting like in a model home and here are a few tips on how to get those ready to be photographed:

1. MAKE ALL BEDS.

2.Remove things like floor or dresser types of fans, tissue boxes, cosmetics, medication, jewelry, trash cans, etc.

3. Unclutter kids rooms by removing stickers from the walls, put the plain side of the comforter up on the bed, make sure toys are put away.

It all begins with an idea.

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sound like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest. If you read the words back and don’t hear your own voice in your head, that’s a good sign you still have more work to do.

Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself. It always does.
